The One A9 was another device that managed to leak more times than anyone could keep count, but now HTC has officially made the device official.
At its event early this morning, HTC has unveiled the One A9, a device that brings together some high-end specs with midrange variables in a shell that will come in a variety of colors and offer a reasonably-sized display. That Super AMOLED screen measures in at 5-inches and has a 1080p HD resolution, and it sits within a thin metal frame that will come in four different colors. (HTC says these colors will vary by region, so it’s not known which color will be available in which region yet.)
Those colors include Deep Garnet, Opal Silver, Carbon Gray, and Topaz Gold. However, it’s worth noting that both the Topaz Gold and Deep Garnet will not be available at launch, and will be rolling out later. What’s more, HTC also includes two other colors, one seemingly black (Cast Iron) and another that’s gold-borderline-yellow (Acid Gold), but didn’t actually announce those colors. They just happen to be included on HTC’s website, as pictured just below.
Inside, there’s a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor. There will be two variants: One with 16GB of built-in storage and 2GB of RAM, and the other with 32GB of built-in storage and 3GB of RAM. Both devices will feature a microSD card slot for expandable storage. The battery is measured in at 2150mAh. The camera on the back is a 13-megapixel shooter which features optical image stabilization, a sapphire lens cover, and auto-focus. On the other side there’s an UltraPixel camera, which features 1080p HD recording, and an aperture of f/2.0.
It’s running Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with an updated version of HTC’s Sense UI.
Pricing will start at $399, but that’s only for a limited time.
As far as a release date goes, HTC says it will begin rolling out the first week of November. It will be packaged with six months of Google Play Music for good measure, and HTC is including its “Uh-Oh” protection package at no extra charge. Additionally, HTC says that the One A9 will get software updates just 15 days after the first Nexus-branded device receives the same software.
In the United States, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have all said that they will launch the device in the near future. Verizon Wireless has remained quiet on that front for now.
